Where have the Pitcairn lots gone on eBay?? by Mark A. Butterline
-
- The other day a friend of mine at the local stamp club (a Bermuda collector) asked me "Where have all the Bermuda lots gone on eBay?"
He went on to explain that the number of Bermuda stamp lots had been cut by about half recently.
After thinking for a few seconds, I remembered that because of recent changes on eBay I now had to click the "See all items" link near the bottom of the results page in order to see all of the Pitcairn lots.

- I had noticed recently that if I didn't click on "See all items" I would only see lots priced in United States or Australian dollars and that all lots priced in British pounds or Euros were now missing.
And since Pitcairn is a British territory, this meant that many lots were now missing.
Before the change, clicking the "See all items" link only added a few lots, usually those priced in Euros from sellers based in France or Germany.
This may account for the text of the link: "See all items including those available from non-English speaking countries/regions."
While the addition of Britain to this group maybe technically correct, it certainly is a little confusing for eBay shoppers.

- UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!!
-
- On October 17, 2007 Ebay announced that they are testing some new cross-border functionality that will
automatically list items in the Stamps category on both Ebay.com and Ebay.co.uk, provided they meet
certain criteria (e.g., seller accepts Paypal). This test is supposed to last into the new year.
My own unscientific observations on October 23 do show a significant increase in the default search
results for 'Pitcairn' in the Stamps category.
